Haji Mohd Zuhairi bin Dato' Abdul Majid

He graduated from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with Bachelor in Accountancy in 1993. He was qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2002. He has a rich 20-year experience in the oil and gas industry in Malaysia and overseas. His career journey started in 1993 with PETRONAS as a Project Accountant for RM1.4 billion gas processing plant in Kerteh, Terengganu. He later moved to Gas District Cooling (GDC) Group of Companies in 1995, as Group Financial Accountant. In 2002, he was attached to the Office of Senior Vice President Finance as a Senior Planner. In 2007, PETRONAS sent him to the Republic of Sudan as a Head of Finance for PETRONAS Sudan Operation. He next served Qatar Petroleum as Senior Analyst for a multi-billion dollar LNG business in the country.

He represented Qatar Petroleum in negotiation with JV Partners in LNG business that also involved other major world companies like Shell, ExxonMobil, Conoco Philips, Chevron and Edimitsu. He also advised the Directorate of Finance, Qatar Petroleum on business, financial and commercial matters of Qatargas and RasGas (Qatar Petroleum LNG JV companies). He was also responsible for the preparation of a special report to the Minister of Energy and Mining, State of Qatar on the performance of LNG business.

He later resigned from the Qatar Petroleum in 2014 and formed his own company, Massive Benchmark Sdn Bhd, an international business advisory and consultancy firm together with another six experienced professional partners. He returned to Malaysia under the TalentCorp Returning Expert Program (REP), a program under the Prime Minister’s Department, to formulate and facilitate initiatives to address the availability of talents in line with the need of economic transformation of Malaysia to be a developed nation. He is currently the Managing Director, Karya Lestari Sdn Bhd, and Director of an oil and gas company, Goldton Sdn Bhd.
